Gran Calahonda - The Development
Gran Calahonda is a popular development set in a secure gated development in lower Calahonda in Spain. Its popularity is due to its fabulous location, just 15 minutes from both the rich and famous Puerto Banus and the buzzing town of Fuengirola and just a short 5 min walk to the beach.
Transport is not necessary for residents of Gran Calahonda, as you are a short walk from bus stops that take you in both the Marbella and Fuengirola direction as well as a neaby taxi rank and also a bus/train that will get you all around Calahonda. For permanent residents who work in the neighbouring towns, you are a two min drive to both the N340 and the A7 Toll road.
The development boasts three large swimming pools and beautifully landscaped gardens which are well maintained all year around. All pools have children’s splash pools attached and are fully equipped with sun loungers and straw umbrellas for shade. Recently there has also been a children’s play park constructed with has proved popular with permanent family residents as well as holiday makers with children.
You have access to pretty much every amenity imaginable within walking distance of Gran Calahonda. Opposite the development is the Los Olivos commercial centre with the SuperSol supermarket selling both Spanish and UK products, as well as a newsagent/tobacconist, pharmacy, florist, hairdresser and cafe as well as the convenience of a Halifax Bank and foreign exchange outlet. Just a 3 min walk down from here is the El Zoco centre with an array of shops, cafes, bar, clubs and restaurants. Perhaps most popular of all is the famous “Strip of Calahonda” which is a short 5 minute walk from the Gran Calahonda development and contains some fabulous international cuisine including menus from Spain, Italy, India, Mexico, Switzerland, china and the UK. Within easy walking distance you also have Calipso, Los Cipresses, Los Jarales and Cabopino Beach and port; one of the best beaches on the Costa del Sol.
