Takeout may seem simple but you know what’s even easier? My beef and broccoli teriyaki freezer meal! Smothered in homemade teriyaki sauce, this dish is sure to replace your favorite Japanese restaurant.

It’s time for me to come clean. I’ve been hiding a secret…. Sometimes… I order take out.

I know, I know. I have so many amazing recipes on this blog and I once spent all day making 50 freezer meals, but even I sometimes have a lazy day where I really do. not. want. to. do. anything.

I just want to veg all day. This momma sometimes needs a time out from the kitchen.

The last time we ordered takeout from my favorite Japanese place, I stared down at my bowl of teriyaki goodness, and thought to myself that I was going to find a healthier way to make this meal. I’ve made a paleo beef and broccoli dish before that was amazing, so I knew making a teriyaki version would be no problem at all.

This beef and broccoli dish is going to replace all of your take out meals, at least whenever you want something teriyaki. Tender beef and broccoli is smothered in sticky and sweet homemade teriyaki sauce with just a pinch of ginger to help bring out the savory flavor of the garlic and pepper flakes.

You’ll feel good eating this freezer meal when you know every ingredient that went into it.

It’s just SO GOOD! And way healthier and BETTER than the restaurant stuff. Did I mention it’s also freezer safe? Yep! This amazing dish is a freezer meal, making take out something you won’t miss.

Good thing I have a bag in the freezer right now because I might have just talked myself into heating some up.

HOW DO YOU MAKE BEEF AND BROCCOLI?

To make this dish, all you need to do is slice up the steak, then toss in cornstarch and bag up. Then chop up some fresh broccoli or even easier – use frozen broccoli florets! Make your sauce ahead of time as well and bag it up and you’re ready to go! Couldn’t be easier!

CAN YOU FREEZE THIS RECIPE?

I’m not called the queen of freezer meals for nothing. This beef and broccoli teriyaki freezes perfectly and cooks right to perfection in a nonstick pan or wok when you’re ready to dig in!

You can safely store it in your freezer for about 3 – 4 months. As always, reminder to make sure you put a date on the bag if you don’t plan on eating it soon, though you won’t want to wait to eat this dish!

WHAT SHOULD I SERVE WITH IT?

I usually make some rice to go along with it. You could also try serving it on top of quinoa or with a salad if you want to keep the meal completely gluten free.

Beef and Broccoli Teriyaki Freezer Meal

Tender beef stir-fried with broccoli and a sweet and tasty teriyaki sauce that makes a really easy skillet freezer meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced steak I buy mine pre-sliced to save time
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup soy or tamari sauce
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp minced garlic about 1 clove
  • 1/2 tsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3-4 cups broccoli florets fresh or frozen
  • On cooking day: 3-4 tbsp vegetable or canola oil

Instructions

  • Add sliced steak + cornstarch into gallon-sized freezer bag. Shake bag until all sides of steak pieces are coated. Seal bag, removing air.

  • In a small bowl (or place directly into quart sized freezer bag) combine tamari or soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, sesame oil and red pepper flakes.

MAKE IT NOW

  • Add 3-4 tbsp vegetable or canola oil to a wok or large skillet and heat on high.

  • Add steak into wok and stir-fry, separating pieces and stirring constantly until the majority of the pieces have some golden or crispy edges on them, about 3-4 minutes.

  • Add broccoli, cook 1-2 minutes until crisp-tender.

  • Add sauce, and cook, stirring constantly for about 1 minute until sauce slightly thickens.

  • Serve.

MAKE IT A FREEZER MEAL

QUICK THAW:

  • Thaw steak and sauce packets quickly by running under warm water until you can break the packets up.

  • Or place the whole kit in the fridge first thing in the morning so the meat will be thawed by dinner time.

COOK IN WOK OR LARGE SKILLET:

  • Add 3-4 tbsp vegetable or canola oil over high heat.

  • Pour steak into wok, stir-fry, separating pieces and stirring constantly until the majority of the pieces have some golden or crispy edges on them, about 3-4 minutes.

  • Add broccoli, cook 1-2 minutes until crisp-tender.

  • Add sauce, and cook, stirring constantly for about 1 minute until sauce slightly thickens.

  • Serve.

    A quarter cup of corn starch and a half cup of tamari is WAY too much. It also needs at least a half cup of water. This came out inedibly salty and dry.

    I do not cook. I have never liked cooking, but my husband and I have been trying to eat healthier and find easy recipes as we prep for the arrival of our first child. This recipe was perfect! I made it this weekend and not only was the recipe simple and easy to follow, the food was amazing! So glad we tried this one out and we will be checking out more recipes from the website this week! Bonus: because we are cooking for two there are tons of leftovers so we have dinner for tonight too 🙂

    It’s not necessary to blanch the broccoli before freezing? I have a bunch of broccoli from my garden that I’m trying to prep into meals to freeze and I’ve always blached before freezing by itself.

    Wow, this was a winner at our house, and with 6 people that is saying a lot. We did make it with Chicken Breast but both the Beef & Chicken versions will make it into our rotation. I do agree with doubling the sauce. Thank you for a restaurant or better quality recipe.

    I made this from the freezer prep version today for lunch served over rice. My husband had 3 helpings and asked if this was one of those P.F.     I am making the beef and broccoli meal for freezing. (Sounds very yummy) I am thawing out (partially for easier slicing) the steak. Would you suggest frying up the corn starched slices then freezing as your recipe calls for or can I refreeze the thawed slices and then cook it all up after thawing it? I use food saver technique in all my freezing. NOt sure if that matters but you do get a much better seal. THanks ahead for any help.

    I made this to prep for our new baby. It came out pretty good. I didn’t thaw in time so I had issues with oil splatter and ice crystals. Something to remember next time. I also would double the sauce recipe and add a bit more sweetener. I added a bag of fresh shredded carrots to the beef just as it finished cooking. Super good! Will make this again.

    I’ve made recipes from the blog and I also recently bought the cookbook! Everything I’ve made so far has been a hit. I will say this one is a top favorite though. I didn’t make it this last go around and my husband asked me the other day to make it again because he misses it. All of the recipes I’ve tried have been amazing. I refuse to buy frozen meals from the store now. I suffer with chronic illness and some days am too sick to cook. These recipes not only help me get a tasty healthy meal on the table but they also have helped me save more money and some how have more food than before I started making freezer meals.
