To qualify for private banking in South Africa, individuals generally need to have a qualification and earn a minimum level of income, which may vary depending on age, qualifications or other specific requirements.

Individuals over 30

Qualified individuals over 30 years old must earn R800 000 or more per year to qualify*.

Individuals under 30

Qualified individuals under 30 years old must earn R600 000 or more per year to qualify* or work in a specific field.

If you work in one of the following sectors and meet these qualifying criteria, you may qualify* to bank with us.

  • Accounting trainee (CTA)
  • Actuary (Honours or passed seven exams)
  • Chartered financial analyst (CFA passed level 3 exams)
  • Engineer and energy (BEng, BSc or similar four-year qualification)
  • IT and technology (BSc or similar four-year qualification)
  • MBA graduate (MBA)
  • Medical doctor (MBChB)

If you are over the age of 30 and meet the criteria below, you may qualify* to apply for and open an Investec Private Bank Account.
