Legal ads on D6 In Memoriam POLLARD, BAMA MOORE In Memory of Bama Moore Pollard February 13, 1905 September 8, 1995 The testimony of Bama Moore Pollard's life was the embodiment of a valiant woman weaving and everlasting intimacy of entrepreneurship and Christian fellowship. Clothed with compassion, kindness and humility, she expanded the growth of Pollard Funeral Home to a historical and landmark stature. Presently, it is the oldest business in the Summerhill community and among the oldest AfricanAmerican owned businesses existing in Atlanta. Bama Pollard was ardently devoted to others.

As such, she received numerous honors and awards. She had the distinction of being celebrated as one of the first six Black Female Business Women in the City of Atlanta in December, 1975 and as a pillar of the Summerhill Community, by former President Jimmy Carter, the Cook-Cox family and the tenants of Capitol Avenue and Capitol Towers. In commemoration of her unfailing love and commitment to the pursuit of humanity, the Atlanta City Council, August 18, 1997, voted to officially change the name of Washington Street to Pollard Boulevard. As we grapple with the meaning of spirituality, peace and justice for our time, the insight and life of Bama Moore Pollard continues to provide inspiration for us all.
