Note that it is prohibited to spend the night in a shopping centre parking lot in Canada. The exception to this rule is Walmart, which permits RV parking on its store lots where possible. Be sure to ask the store manager's permission before settling in for the night.

While we do not offer electrical service or accommodations typically necessary for RV customers, Walmart values RV travelers and considers them among our best customers. Consequently, we do permit RV parking on our store parking lots as we are able.
Unfortunately, some people have been told that they must pay for overnight parking. That's not true. Walmart does not charge for overnight RV parking at any of its locations. You can stay as long as you want and park anywhere in the lot — even if it's right next to another vehicle or right in front of an entrance.

On public, land such as National Forests and Crown Land, wild camping is allowed for Canadians, but non-citizens have to buy a permit. Don't camp on private land unless granted permission. Use the trash cans provided, and if there are none, pack out your waste.

However, a person can live, sleep, eat, and use an RV for accommodation, if that accommodation does not extend past 120 days in any calendar year within the municipality. Exceptions are made if that RV is in a mobile home park or a tourist establishment.
How to buy a non-resident camping permit. Non-residents who need a permit can buy one online. You can also buy a permit in person through participating ServiceOntario centres and authorized licence issuers. The cost is $9.35 plus the federal Harmonized Sales Tax ($10.57) per person, per night.

Why Do They Allow Overnight RV Parking At Walmart? Good ol' Sam Walton wanted his recreational vehicle customers to have a place to stop for the night when traveling, so he allowed overnight RV parking at Walmart. Walmart sees RVers as great customers of the store, and they have welcomed us for a long time.
