Founded in 1958 as IHOP, it operates franchised and corporate owned full-service restaurants including three restaurant concepts, Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar, International House of Pancakes (IHOP), and Fuzzy's Taco Shop. Dine Brands Global Inc.

The original Applebee's, which was named T.J. Applebee's Rx for Edibles & Elixirs, opened in Atlanta in 1980. The founders of the original restaurant, including Bill and T.J. Palmer, wanted to name the restaurant Appleby's, but that spelling had already been registered.
Bloomin' is home to such notable dining establishments as its flagship Outback Steakhouse brand, the upscale steak purveyors at Fleming's, and the Italian food chefs at Carrabba's. Darden counts Red Lobster, Longhorn Steakhouse and the Olive Garden among its stable of food houses.
IHOP restaurants are franchised and operated by Glendale, California-based International House of Pancakes, LLC and its affiliates. International House of Pancakes, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dine Brands Global (NYSE: DIN).
Applebee's will close more restaurants than initially expected this year, complicating its long-running plans to return to net new unit growth. The 1,661-unit franchisor now expects to finish 2023 with 25 to 35 net fewer U.S. restaurants, compared to the previously forecasted 10 to 20.
